SUMMARY
Our letter supports campaigns by the Progressive Reform Network, Democratic Values PAC, Demand Progress, and other organizations. It asks Congress to raise the federal minimum wage, which has been stalled at $7.25/hour since July 24, 2009. For tipped employees, the minimum cash wage is $2.13 per hour, provided tips bring the total to at least $7.25 per hour.
In 2025, the annual earnings of a single adult working full-time, year-round at $7.25 an hour fell below the poverty threshold of $15,650 (established by the Department of Health and Human Services guidelines).
We will send your email messages to your Congressperson and your Senators, and you will also have the opportunity to tweet your message to them.
Support a bill to raise the minimum wage. The current minimum wage is a poverty wage.
